The base camp trek in Annapurna, Nepal, is a trek with a special charm and will leave you spellbound. Not many walks can offer you the magical experience of bringing you so near to all these towering 7,000 and 8,000-meter peaks, in such a short time. This walk is one of the most popular walks of the Annapurna region and is a hike that provides wonderful views along the way. It winds its way through scenic rice terraces, brilliantly coloured rhododendron forest and gorgeous high altitude vistas offering the majestic Annapurna range in view for much of its length.Â
Trekking to the Base Camp of Machhapuchare provides an opportunity to reach a height of 12200 ft, from where one can see the marvelous Mountain Scenery of the Annapurna Region, which is the best for a mountaineering fanatic. The route up will be made even more interesting by a view of peaks which are so beautiful that they are the first things you see, even before the trek starts, such as Machhapuchhare, Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.
While on your trek to Annapurna Base Camp, you will stay in the traditional tea houses, offering tasty Nepali cuisine. The tea houses are run by locals of the area giving you a chance to interact with locals and know more about their culture. The Annapurna Base Camp trek is also referred to as the Annapurna Sanctuary trek, in which along the path of protected areas you trek. A lot of flora and fauna species are also found in this area, which will surely amaze you with the beauty it has to offer.
The approximate distance covered during the trek to Annapurna Base Camp is around 70 km. It begins from Kliyu and takes you through iconic and picturesque locations. During the trek, you can enjoy a constant view of the vast Himalayan peaks. You will trek to the Machhapuchhare Base and Annapurna Base Camp. ABC trek is a moderate to difficult grade trek and poses certain challenges, hence it is an enriching trekking experience for real trekking enthusiasts.

Day 01: Arrive at Pokhara.
Day 02: Pokhara Drive to Nayapool (1:30 hour Drive) Trek to Ghandruk (1,940 m.) 4:30-5 hours
Day 03: Ghandruk Trek to Sinuwa (2,170 m.) 5-6 hours
Day 04: Chomrong Trek to Deurali (3,230 m.) 5-6 hours
Day 05: Deurali Trek to A.B.C. (4,130 m.) 5-6 hours
Day 06: A.B.C. Trek to Bamboo (2,310 m.) 6-7 hours
Day 07: Bamboo Trek to Jhinu Danda (1,780 m.) 4-5 hours
Day 08: Jhinu Danda Trek to Suwai, then (1 hour trek) drive to Pokhara (3/4 hours)

- Nepal entry visa: The visa can be obtained easily on arrival at Kathmandu (TIBWN) International airport, and a tourist visa is available on multiple entry upon payment of US $ 40 or equivalent foreign currency for 30 days. Likewise, one can pay $100 for a multiple-entry tourist visa for 90 days. Passport-size photocopies are required (there will be two in total).Â

A. The hike is a medium-level challenge. Taking the Stone steps, forest walk, mountains walking for a few days. However, a reasonable level of physical fitness is recommended but not required for the trekking experience.
A. Typically, these itineraries last from 7 – 11 days, and may vary based on where the person is starting from, acclimatization routine, and the rate of walking or traversing. An additional sightseeing visit in Pokhara/Kathmandu is added to some packages.
A. The highest point is Annapurna Base Camp (4130m/13,550ft). While the elevation is moderate, it is still important to acclimatise on this trek to the Himalayas.
A. Yes. Compared to those at higher elevations, the risk is less, but some trekkers might suffer mild symptoms of altitude sickness. It’s easier to climb at a slow pace, drink water and take the guidance of your guide to reduce the risk level.
A. Ideally, it is better to visit in either the Spring (March to May) or Autumn (September to November). In summer, they will typically have sunny skies, warm weather, springtime rhododendrons and superb mountain views.
